Separation is expensive, slow and difficult to understand. Traditional legal representation costs more than many families can afford. The information that would help someone make a good decision is scattered, written for lawyers, or attached to a sales pitch.
Family Legal Ltd exists to address that on both sides. On one side, services priced so that ordinary families can use them. On the other, information published free, with nothing to buy, for people who simply need to understand where they stand. This now includes six reference encyclopaedias: Family Law Wiki, Family Court Wiki, Divorce Law Wiki, Family Mediation Wiki, Separation Wiki and Mediate UK Wiki.
Both matter. A person who understands the process makes better decisions, whether or not they ever become a client.
The three kinds of brand in the portfolio
The portfolio contains three kinds of brand, and the distinction between them is important.
Legal services and information brands provide a service or explain a specific legal process. Mediate UK, Family Law Service, MIAM UK, ConsentOrder, C100 Form, Child Maintenance and London Mediation Service sit in this group.
Support and moving forward brands publish free information and support. These brands do not sell legal services. The Divorce Circle, Kids and Divorce, From Dads 2 Dads, Maypole and Mediation Guide sit in this group.
Local mediation brands provide family mediation in a defined area. Surrey Mediation Service, Mediation Dorset and Bristol Mediation Services sit in this group.
How the portfolio developed
Family Legal Ltd grew out of a single family mediation business. Mediate UK came first. Online mediation extended that service beyond its original local area. Local mediation brands followed, then Family Law Service, then the free information and support brands.
Family Legal Ltd was incorporated later, as the company that holds and supports the group.
How the company works
Family Legal Ltd combines four things. Human expertise, in the mediators and specialists who deliver the services. Accessible information, written for people who are not lawyers. Operational systems, which keep a group of this size running consistently. And technology, which is what allows a small company to serve families across England and Wales.
Each brand receives that support from the company. Each brand keeps its own purpose and its own audience. A brand written for fathers does not sound like a brand written for people filling in a court form, and it should not.
Being clear about what is what
Family Legal Ltd operates services that differ in kind, and the differences matter to anyone deciding what they need.
